"Going to the chapel and we're gonna (watch other people) get married!!"
That's right off to a wedding today! It's going to be soooooooo interesting because I'll not know a single soul there except the person I'm going with. In fact the only way I'll know the bride is by that big, white meringue she's wearing, and I figure the groom will be the guy who looks like he wants to cry and needs someone to hold him, maybe even his bride.
But I love weddings, as long as I'm a guest and not an active participant! Well okay maybe a brides maid but only in a really cute dress, none of that puked up stuff most brides seem to want to embarrass they're friends in. I mean shiny purple and green piping were never ever meant to mix! Every time they do an angel dies!!)
I like watching folk at weddings. Seeing what categories they fall into. Drunken best friends, desperate brides maid, maiden aunt, angry parent, happy go lucky kids, loud uncles, party crashes, the bored, the joyful, the tearful, the indifferent...
I also love to see how people pull off their weddings. Something small with friends, something huge and gaudy and excessive? What flowers do they have? How many people are falling asleep during the ceremony (or secretly watching sports on their phones), what sort of speech is given for the happy couple (and do we laugh genuinely or because it's expected of us?)
Weddings are a whole fascinating little world unto themselves!
Oh and if you need me, I'll be the short red head in the black dress staring out the window, a trillion miles away who's forgotten to pay attention to anything I just wrote above!
