I like crystals.
Personally I'm rather dubious on their "healing" powers and ability to channel divine energies or cook a fine rump roast. But I do think they're awfully pretty and that it's rather fun sometimes to roll them about in your hand, twinkle them in the sun or just ensure that your tiger's eye is so much cooler then anyone elses. (And it is!)
There used to be a magazine series, one of those CNA sort, that came out every two weeks or so, I forget the time period, with a new stone, the history on the stone and in essence enough info to make you think you're very lucky to have bought that issue. Sadly though, they often put in stones I turned my nose up to and then did the classic 'disappearing-off-the-shelf-if-you-want-more-subscribe-or-else' thing that such series do. (I then collected little clocks until that series also disappeared wherein I learn my lesson and spent money on more important things like 'Fair lady' and 'MAD magazine')
I do love how smooth and cool a nicely proceessed crystal can be though. When I was younger I enjoyed putting them in my mouth because it felt nice and I was weird, but one or two close calls to swallowing made me decide to follow a different path of, essentially, life.
My favorite stone out there is opal, because of it's mish-mashed colours and sassy look, however since they're a tad on the 'Jo-won't-afford-one-this-lifetime' scale my heart has been happy to settle for rose quartz which is pretty and in abundance.
All this does make me sound like a fundi doesn't it? Actually it's on my mind because I found my small collection that I thought I'd thrown away ages ago and that I wouldn't have thought twice about otherwise.
Still, interesting hey?
